Question 2.2: Digital footprint

Digital footprint is a trail we leave online, it can be a picture or video uploaded onto social media or even your browsing history. It is the presence we leave online as we use technology and it somehow reflects who we are and what really interests us. And as we know anybody’s digital footprint can be traced through the use of cookies and it is then used to suggest advertisements based on your interests, things you mostly search for when you online. This can be an advantage for the business world as it can help the advertisers focus on specific audience based on their digital footprint. This can also be seen as invasion of privacy as people don’t want strangers being in hold of such information. If this information is used in an inappropriate way then ones digital footprint can become a problem so it is always important to make sure that you are responsible for all the aspects of the internet that you use.
